Leopard print keychain with beaded cord: stainless steel leopard and onyx charm

Combine the Leopard charm with two onyx beads to make this keychain.

Level: suitable for those familiar with the basics of jewelry making · Estimated time: 35 minutes · Yield: one piece.

What you need

The main component of this design is the Stainless Steel Leopard Charm. The quantities listed are for the jewelry piece, not the entire strand or pack sold.

  • 2 beads from the Onyx Bead Strand (8 mm).
  • 1 decorative charm: Stainless Steel Leopard Charm.
  • 2 pieces of 8 cm flexible wire, 0.4 mm diameter, compatible with the holes, to string the two beads using crimped loops.
  • 6 silver-colored 4 mm jump rings.
  • 1 25 mm split keychain ring.
  • 30 cm of 0.5 mm waxed polyester cord to hold the decorative group.

Tools

Two flat-nose pliers, one round-nose pliers, one metal-appropriate wire cutter, a bead mat, and a ruler. Scissors.

Before you start

The quantities describe the design shown exactly. Check the size on a temporary assembly before finishing. If you change the number of beads, you will create a different design from the one shown on the cover.

Test each component on the wire you have selected: the outer diameter of a bead does not indicate the size of its hole. Prepare the components on a bead mat and follow the instructions for the wires and finishes. The supplies without a link must be gathered separately.

Step-by-step instructions

1. String the two stones

For each stone, pass the wire through its hole and make a crimped loop at each end. Each end must be cut and folded against the wire.

2. Prepare the charm

If the charm's hole is open, form a crimped loop with compatible flexible wire. The design must remain visible from the front, without wire covering the design.

3. Form the pendant

Assemble a vertical line: one stone, the charm, then the second stone. Connect the loops with closed jump rings, edge to edge.

4. Attach the cord

Pass the cord through the keychain ring and through the top loop of the decorative line. Tie a double knot to form a small 3 cm loop. Secure the ends according to the cord instructions.

5. Check the finish

Check the connections and the stability of the keychain ring. The decorative group must move freely. For the keychain, the keys are attached directly to the split ring; they do not hang from the group of stones.

The detail that makes the finish

Check the number of beads before closing: 2 onyx beads. The knots and connections should remain discreet and must not restrict the movement of the stones.

Your finished jewelry

Check each connection with a gentle tug. Run a piece of fabric over the metal parts: no points should catch. Wipe the stones with a soft cloth and keep the wires away from household cleaning products.
