Pendant necklace on a fine chain: Burmese jade, green aventurine and rhodonite
Share
Create a piece of jewelry with Burmese jade, green aventurine, and rhodonite beads. The chosen setting is a fine silver-tone steel chain. The design includes 3 beads.
Level: suitable for those with basic jewelry-making skills · Estimated time: 45 minutes · Result: one piece.
What you need
The main reference for this design: Bead Strand - Burmese Jade (8 mm). The quantities listed correspond to the jewelry, not the entire strand or set sold.
- 1 bead taken from the Bead Strand - Burmese Jade (8 mm).
- 1 bead taken from the Bead Strand - Green Aventurine (8 mm).
- 1 bead taken from the Bead Strand - Rhodonite (8 mm).
- 50 cm of fine silver-tone steel chain, to be adjusted to 45 cm including the clasp.
- 1 flat-head pin, 44 mm, 0.4 mm wire compatible with the holes.
- 1 lobster clasp, 1 closed ring, and 3 4 mm jump rings in the same finish.
Tools
Two smooth-jawed flat-nose pliers, one round-nose pliers, one metal-appropriate wire cutter, a bead mat, and a ruler.
Before you start
The quantities describe the design shown exactly. Check the size on a temporary assembly before finishing. If you change the number of beads, you are creating a different design from the one shown on the cover.
Test each reference on the selected wire: the outer diameter of a bead does not indicate the size of its hole. Prepare the components on a bead mat and follow the instructions for the wires and finishes.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Prepare the pendant
Arrange the stones from bottom to top in this order: 1 Burmese jade bead → 1 green aventurine bead → 1 rhodonite bead. The head of the pin must hold the first bead.
2. Assemble the column
Thread the bead onto the pin, whose head must be wider than the hole. Bend at a right angle a few millimeters above the stone, form a loop with the round-nose pliers, then wrap the tail twice around the stem. Cut and fold back the tip with smooth pliers. Thread the entire sequence before forming the top loop.
3. Install the suspension
Connect the loop to a 4 mm jump ring. Pass the chain through this ring. Check that the pendant moves freely.
4. Adjust the length
Cut the chain to obtain 45 cm with the clasp. Place the lobster clasp at one end and the closed ring at the other with the jump rings.
5. Close the connections
Open the rings by twisting them sideways, then close each edge face to face. Pass a thin fabric around the coiled loop: no point should catch.
The detail that makes the finish
Check the number of beads before closing: 1 Burmese jade, 1 green aventurine, 1 rhodonite. The knots and connections remain discreet and must not block the movement of the stones.
Your finished jewelry
Check each attachment with a gentle pull. Pass a fabric over the metal parts: no point should catch. Wipe the stones with a soft cloth and keep the wires away from household products.
