A bookcase remains pleasant when books can be taken out and put away without disturbing the decor. The angel, the pyramid, and the heart occupy three small, distinct spaces here. Their diagonal arrangement connects the shelves while avoiding a clutter of items on a single shelf.

  • A bookcase.
  • Two groups of books.

Prepare the space

Measure the available depth before placing the minerals. Keep their entire base inside the furniture or on the support. Compare the combined weight of the pieces with the load capacity of the furniture, then choose the point from which you want to view the arrangement.

The setup, step by step

  1. Clear the surface and place the accessories empty. Check that the supports are flat and wide enough for the chosen pieces.
  2. Identify three different spaces rather than filling a single shelf.
  3. Place the angel near vertical books, the pyramid in a more open space, and the heart flat.
  4. Offset the three locations diagonally from one shelf to the next.
  5. Keep the stones out of the way needed to remove a book.
  6. Observe the result from the usual distance. Correct any overlapping outlines, then check the stability of each piece one last time.

The detail that counts

Do not use these small pieces as bookends: they should remain separate from the volumes.

Adjust the light and proportions

Start with diffused light and observe the surfaces from the main viewing point. Move an accessory slightly if its shadow or reflection obscures the stone. Keep the proportions of the pieces actually chosen: a small mineral is highlighted by bringing the viewer closer or simplifying the background, without multiplying the accessories.
