Display a selection of minerals under a suitable glass dome
Share
A glass cloche provides a compact frame for two small pieces. The pyramid and aventurine heart are displayed inside without touching the glass. The cloche’s usable interior size determines the available space, long before its exterior diameter does.
What you need
- 1 piece: Pyramid - Green aventurine. Selected size: Base 2.5 to 3 cm; height 2 to 2.5 cm. View the item.
- 1 piece: Small FLAT Heart - Green aventurine. Selected size: Width 3 to 3.5 cm; thickness 7 to 9 mm. View the item.
- A glass cloche with a flat base.
- Two low labels.
Prepare the display area
Measure the available depth before placing the minerals. Keep their entire bases inside the cabinet or on the support. Compare the combined weight of the pieces with the load capacity of the furniture, then choose the point from which you want to view the arrangement.
The display, step by step
- Clear the surface and place the accessories empty. Check that the supports are flat and wide enough for the chosen pieces.
- Measure the usable interior of the cloche before choosing the arrangement.
- Place the pyramid further back and the heart flat in front of it.
- Check that the glass does not touch the tip or the sides of the stones.
- Lift and then replace the cloche to check how easy it is to access.
- Observe the result from the usual distance. Correct any overlapping contours, then check the stability of each piece one last time.
The detail that counts
The cloche is used to display the pieces, not to hold them in place.
Adjust the light and proportions
Start with diffused light and observe the surfaces from the main viewing point. Move an accessory slightly if its shadow or reflection obscures the stone. Maintain the proportions of the pieces actually chosen: a small mineral is enhanced by viewing it up close or by simplifying the background, without multiplying the accessories.
